Dairy-Free Matcha Smoothie

The show stealer in this energizing dairy-free matcha smoothie is – you guessed it – matcha. It’s a type of green tea that provides essential antioxidants to help boost the immune system and rid the body of free radicals floating around waiting to get into our cells and cause damage.

Matcha is a bit different than other green teas. The green leaves are steamed, ground into a powder and then consumed – rather than steeped in hot water in a tea bag and then discarded, as you might with regular green tea. Because of this, matcha retains its nutritional value and does not have a bitter taste. It has a smooth, creamy texture that makes it a perfect ingredient for smoothies.

I’ve included some coconut kefir in here, which is a fermented non-dairy yogurt drink, to add some extra probiotic benefit. If you’re unable to buy it or make your own, try coconut yogurt instead – just be sure to read those yogurt labels to ensure you’re not consuming a ton of added sugars.

This dairy-free matcha smoothie is the perfect blend of protein, healthy fats, and natural energy. I hope you love it as much as I do!
